Influence of pilling on the quality of flax single jersey knitted fabrics

In this work, the quality of four plain single jersey weft-knitted fabrics (produced from same flax yarn) having different structural characteristics (stitch density, weight, and thickness) before after pilling, was examined. The knitted evaluated in terms their compression (compressibility, thickness loss, compressive resilience), comfort (air permeability water retention), strength (bursting ball traverse elongation) properties. obtained results revealed that fabric with lowest characteristic values has highest compressibility, air permeability, while least resilience, retention, bursting strength, elongation, both pilling. Pilling causes a decrease retention (for three lightweight fabrics), elongation but an increase resilience most compact fabric). All studied have excellent pilling to good A leads all fabrics, especially those structure. Sample moderate compactness possesses best overall quality.
